USA Volleyball and OHSAA Rules

 

Akron-Canton Elite abides by all USA Volleyball and OHSAA (Ohio High School Athletic Association) rules.

Here are a few rules that you will need to know and understand:

1.        The Junior Olympic season cannot start until the completion of the OHSAA State Tournament

2.        Only 3 athletes from the same school can be on the same team for grades 7-12 in Ohio.  Seniors in high school do not count towards this number.

3.       A high school coach in the state of Ohio cannot coach players from their own school.

Note: If this is your first experience with club volleyball, remember that not all USA Volleyball rules are the same as high school rules.

 

USA Volleyball Structure

 

There are two levels of Junior Volleyball competition:

  1. National teams:  for advanced athletes
  2. Regional teams:  for developing athletes

 

The national level teams have the opportunity to qualify for the USA Volleyball Junior National Championships.  This prestigious tournament has been held all over the country and will be held in Minneapolis, MN in 2007.  Teams that are unable to qualify for this tournament can apply to attend the National Invitational Tournament that will be held in Atlanta, GA
